As required by the Nursing and Midwifery Council NMC, our three year Adult Nursing degree consists of 4, hours in total 2, hours are theory and 2, hours are practice.

Each 20 credit module involves 50 hours of academic direction and hours of independent study. Academic direction will include core lectures, student seminars, problem-based learning sessions and tutorial opportunities. You'll undertake hours of practice-based learning across the first and second year and hours in Year 3. This includes a broad range of clinical placements and simulated practice. On placement you will be supported by a practice supervisor and you'll also receive support from your personal academic tutor and the senior lecturer for practice learning.

Simulated practice will be facilitated by academic staff in our simulation suites. You'll complete a total of hours of simulation over the three year course. During placements you are required to work the shift patterns of your practice area.

This ensures that you experience the full range of activity in your individual placement. Shift work could include weekends, bank holidays and night duty. Placements are varied to ensure you achieve the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements for registration. You'll be expected to undertake independent learning to support your academic modules and practice experience. This may be undertaken individually or within small groups, and will include problem solving activities.
